From Beats to Business
Music has always been my thing. As a kid, I was the one who would sneak into gigs, lose myself in raves, and daydream about being behind the decks. Fast forward to college, and I was that party animal who couldn't resist the dance floor. Then, in 2018, something clicked. After attending countless gigs and soaking in the nightlife vibes, I had a realization—I didn’t want to just be part of the crowd; I wanted to create the music they danced to. That lightbulb moment changed everything.
I was 20 when I first stepped into the world of DJing, and by the time I turned 21, I found myself navigating the corporate and startup world. Juggling beats and business? Yeah, that's been my life for a while now.
But getting started wasn’t easy. I was an outsider in the industry, and hustling hard was the only way to make a mark. I wasn't the type to ask for favors, so I took every opportunity I could, even if it meant playing free gigs, showing up at odd hours, and saying “yes” to just about everything. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was worth it. Patience, persistence, and my unwavering love for music kept me pushing through the tough times.
Landing my first residency felt like a dream and a challenge wrapped in one. Late in 2018, I secured a spot at Murphy’s Brewhouse, spinning retro and jazz tunes. But soon enough, I felt like I was stuck in a loop. I needed more, something bigger. So, I left and spent months networking, attending every event possible, and staying ready for opportunities. In April 2019, things finally fell into place when I secured a residency at a nightclub. It was my next big leap.
Then COVID hit. Overnight, gigs disappeared, and I found myself wondering what’s next. I tried my hand at a corporate job with Vedantu, but it wasn’t for me. So, I packed my bags and went back to Mysore, feeling like I was back at square one. Just when I thought I’d hit rock bottom, an opportunity knocked. My friends were building a startup called Brandemic, and they offered me an internship. I jumped in and worked my way up from the ground floor. Today, I lead SEO, manage business development, and run communities for DotMe and ThinkLimitless. It’s been a wild ride, but every setback taught me resilience and the power of pivoting when life throws curveballs.
From free gigs to being a resident DJ at one of Bangalore’s top clubs, and playing across cities, it’s been an incredible journey. I’m proud of how far I’ve come.
Starting as an intern at Brandemic and now being a core team member, building my own team—it’s been nothing short of amazing. Managing communities for DotMe and ThinkLimitless while navigating the startup hustle has taught me more than I could have imagined.
My future plan is to scale Brandemic, DotMe, and ThinkLimitless while leveling up my DJ career and dropping more music. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between my love for music and my passion for building something meaningful.
